690 – Uncovering the Roots of Impatience and Aggression
Some uncomfortable feedback has brought this person to face his impatience. The conversation reveals what the problem really is … and how it can be transformed.
Q: For a long time I’ve been having a lot of fears preventing me to become who I really am. I’ve been slowly progressing the last years but I’m not sure at what point I am at the moment. There’s one specific fear which I don’t really understand and it is that I’m actually also afraid to live up to my full potential.
John: Profound honesty isn’t. It isn’t really the fear of being that. It’s that you don’t want to have the great responsibility of that. You don’t actually fear it. Profound honesty doesn’t fear it. Profound honesty effortlessly and quietly enters, walks into it. Profound honesty steps in. When you are profoundly honest and you face, within, what you really are, aside from anything to do with your self, you do not fear you. You love you. On that level that leaves you without excuse. You have no real excuse. When there is simply you, as awareness facing the deepest of you, as great as that is or as little as that is, there is only one real response and that’s love.
Q: And how do I get any closer to that? Should I focus more? Should I just let it go?
John: Focus more with letting go. For you, as awareness, to reach and face what you really are, aside from anything to do with your self, you need to be configured as awareness in precisely the same way as the configuration, within, of what you first are; the same depth, the same simplicity, and the same beingness.
That beingness is easily found in your heart and not so easily found in your self. That beingness in your heart is any measure at all of openness and softness, openness and softness of heart. The moment that as awareness you touch that, you are, as awareness, moved by your own real beingness. If that touch of you is enough, then despite whatever kind of self you have, despite any of your aspirations, despite your likes and your dislikes, your goals and your preferences, you will love living with an openness and a softness of heart.
It is there within such beingness that you are within the door to knowledge. The door to knowledge isn’t in your mind. The door to knowledge is in a highly particular kind of heart. When your whole heart is configured to openness and softness, then the door of profound opening that you have both most feared and longed for, opens.
If you’re dealing with your fears, you’ll acquire new and convenient fears. If you deal with openness and softness of heart, which is what you know the truth of in your heart, you will come into love of you. Without any focus on your self, without any focus on what kind of person you are, without any focus on your life, without any focus on your past, then what you really are comes beautifully, within your heart, into focus and then you will come into focus within your past, within your self, within your person, within your life, within all of your relationships, and you’ll know. You will know and you will see, and if you remain as that, everything will change.
Q: Thank you.
