601 – Don’t Go Figure, Go Sweetly Within
Sometimes, figuring things out doesn’t work in the way we expect. Dissolving core patterns is one example of this, and John explains why.
Q: My question’s about fear and fear on, like, a physiological level, intensely below the neck fear, and a sense that I have that it’s frequently blocking this that you referred to as accessing the heart or living from the heart.
John: Fear doesn’t block anything, and fear has nothing to do with you unless you give your power to something that you don’t really know the truth of. If you believe only what you know in your heart, fear isn’t possible. As you relate directly to what you know the truth of deeply in your heart, what there is is love and there, in what you really are, fear doesn’t exist. You experience the fear physiologically because it’s wired into your nervous system. Your nervous system represents how you feel in your patterned self. Your nervous system doesn’t tell you what you really are. Your nervous system gives you your physical relationship with your self. Your nervous system won’t tell you the truth. It does tell you the level at which you experience your self.
Everything that is yours – your body, your self, your nervous system – belongs to your being, but your being won’t come into your outward forms, it won’t come into your nervous system without you being it while you’re in your nervous system, while you’re in the experience of it. So when you experience fear in your body, right there, you be the same as your own being. That re-orientates first you as awareness to being what you really are, and the re-orientation then turns to your nervous system and your own nervous system, a little bit, becomes just like you.
As you sustain being what you really are in the midst of whatever self you have and whatever kind of nervous system you have, they both become, in time, just like you, just like what you’re being in it. You being in your heart and you being what you really are is process-free. Your self, your nervous system, your mind, your feelings, your emotions becoming just like you requires a process, a process that doesn’t open without you being what you really are in the midst of whatever self and life you have. In that way, your personal self and your nervous system become whatever you’re being in it, whether what you’re being is an illusion or you’re being what you really are. It can’t be learned; it can only be quietly responded to.
As soon as you are honest to what you most deeply know in your heart, you’re being it. When you’re being what you really are, regardless of whatever kind of self you have, you have only one kind of movement. That movement is love. What you really are has no other way of relating. If it isn’t natural, immediate and beautifully easy, you’re making it too difficult. The difficulty of it, as you can experience it, serves only to make your personal self important, so it gives you a sense of identity.
Q: Thank you.
