Q: What is the difference between feeling and emotion? There's thinking and feeling and willing … why emotion?
John: Emotion is more complex than feeling. Feeling is direct and simple. Emotion is combined with ideas. There’s a thought formation that makes emotion what it is.
Q: So they are a mix of feelings and thoughts and ideas.
John: And your will. When emotion moves, your thinking is all in it. Thought formations are all in it, and your will is also in it.
Q: Is it possible for the human being to only think, only feel or only will something?
John: You can just feel. As soon as you move toward concluding the meaning of what you feel, you turn feeling into emotion.
Q: And all this is in the self. It moves in the self and is not real.
John: Yes. On its own it’s not real. What makes your self real is when your opened and softened heart has presence in your self, when there’s openness and softness of heart in your emotion, in your feeling, in your thinking.
Without some touch of beingness in your self, whatever moves in your self, on its own, is not real. It’s only actual.
Q: It’s not so easy for me to find whether I’m open and soft in my heart or not when I have feelings and emotions. How could I find what is what?
John: Open and softness of heart dissipates the forms of polarized thought, feeling and emotion. Beingness, where it’s free to move in your self, displaces polarity.
