Your Use of Mind: What is Really in Control?

Q: I have a question regarding the free will. So I investigated a few times the true nothing or the pure consciousness, and I investigated this nothing, so there’s just the being, and on the other hand there is my body-mind system who is quite busy manifesting things, being into quantum physics and seeing, okay, it works to manifest things. At the moment, I do not get both together, somehow.

John: They’re not free to come together until you, within your conscious self, are at rest and relaxed and free of any aversion to your subconsciousness coming up into your conscious mind and doing whatever that does within your mind. There’s a partition between what is seen and what is unseen. Control of that partition is held by the illusory sense of control between the conscious self and the subconscious self, as there is a fundamental relaxation where your conscious self is free to fall into your subconscious self and your subconscious self is free to come up into your conscious self.

Q: But the subconscious self is not the pure consciousness, or is it? It has nothing to do with that.

John: That’s right. What holds it together and gives it its power are your beliefs. The beliefs are illusory forms at first consciously trusted in and later turns into a subconscious trust. While it is illusory, it has power because of the form that’s given to it. The form offers a function. Through continued belief in a belief, the personal within the self becomes invested in that function, in the illusory function. It offers a sense of control that isn’t real. It increasingly becomes more actual in your mind, in your nervous system, in your body because of the invested belief.

Q: Hmm. But let’s say my mind wants to change the neurological system in the brain which is conditioned through the subconsciousness, so let’s say I manifest something else which quite works because energy affects energy.

John: Yes.

Q: So then my mind has the idea creation or manifestation is possible.

John: An illusory idea because it offers a sense of meaning that appeals to a conditioned mind, a mind held by its own subconsciousness. Your use of mind isn’t free: it’s controlled by the beliefs that you’ve adopted since you’ve been really little. All of those beliefs become a functional network in your subconsciousness and they all serve to control your sense of reality that you have from within your mind. You’re not in control of your own mind. Your subconsciousness is. What you are in control of as awareness is really simple. It has nothing to do with your mind, nothing to do with your self. It has to do with your capacity to be a distorted beingness or an undistorted and authentic beingness. Your only real capacity within is for you to be opening or closing, softening or hardening, tightening or relaxing. It is you surrendering to an authentic beingness – openness and softness – that frees you of your beliefs as your beliefs are engaged by the circumstances of life.

Q: My mind gets a little bit into resistance.

John: That resistance is a manifestation of reactive, illusory control. The resistance offers a sense of ground and importance to your self. It doesn’t tell you the deeper truth of anything. The resistance is an illusory form, a functional illusory form. It isn’t real. It is actual in your self, in your mind, in your nervous system, in your body, but it isn’t real.

Q: So that means, just let the mind do what the mind wants to do and doesn’t take it very serious.

John: If you don’t want to do in the way that you’re accustomed to, neither will your mind. Your mind is your innocent servant.

Q: Does it mean the mind just became innocent again? Do you mean that?

John: As you, awareness, fundamentally relax, so does your mind.

Q: So how do you relax, or how did you relax??

John: By, and at a core level within, deeply having need of nothing. Everything that you are deeply not needing is what you are deeply not using. Whatever you’re not using relaxes. When you lie down to go to sleep you, awareness, through your forms, begin to relax. Then you, awareness, without the use of your forms, relax. As that shift occurs, you come close to sleep. As that shift occurs, your past, your personality, your self, your day, all begin to dissipate and pass away. All that remains within that core relaxation is you, awareness, but without the use of your forms and without your forms. Your forms, because of you, are free to all leave. It’s as you reach that tipping point into sleep, right at that tipping point, you, awareness, are pure and you are being what you really are. So this core relaxation, you returning to awareness pure.

You naturally come into, every time you reach that tipping point into sleep, you know how to relax into your core. You don’t know it in your mind. This knowledge is intrinsic to awareness. You don’t need your self and your mind for you to fall asleep. You being what you really are that is so regularly accessible to you is how you also be in your waking day. It’s how you be in your mind, in your self. It’s the fundamental relaxation of that that frees you of your beliefs, that dissolves the partition between your conscious self and your subconscious self, the partition between your being and your self. It’s a self-protective partition installed not by your being but by your beliefs and your use of them in your self.

Q: And if I feel this fundamental relaxation there is still the body-mind system with all the beliefs and all the neurological, biochemical things happening in the body because of the beliefs. So then it doesn’t matter anymore, or the relaxation becomes more dominant?

John: Yes. Nothing gets to control everything. It enables your whole system to come back into balance. It’s what allows your being, you as a being, to have your body, your nervous system, your mind, your self, your personality, your life.
