Q: What does the role of prayer and meditation have in the process of transformation?
John: It gets in the way. When we pray, we always pray from a place of old ways of thinking. We always pray from a springboard of oldness. Our prayers are about the things that need to change. When we pray for others, it’s about those things that we perceive need to change.
If there would be a true praying, it would be from the perspective of the real you. It would be from the perspective of your own essence. It would be a manifestation of essence, but what your essence would give you and what the you that you’re used to would give you are completely contrary to each other. They can’t even co-exist.
Q: What about the value of meditation and stilling the mind?
John: The mind doesn’t need to be stilled. You don’t need a still mind. All you need is a quieted heart in the midst of your noisy mind.
