Your Self: A Living Vehicle of Transformation

Q: Hello, John. You talked yesterday about the state of being and being in the self, and from my experience, when I feel the state of being it’s like I don’t care about anything, and everything is good and I don’t think about anything. But I have this and I have going back to the self, and I don’t understand how to bring this to my ordinary things that I do. My question is how to integrate this in daily life.

John: You have developed your self for how you are accustomed to functioning in life. You have developed your self to suit what you are accustomed to coming from, within, in your life. You have developed your self for the surface of living. The way that you have grown up being in your self is how you have developed your self. Your self becomes what you are in your self, the way that you are in your self.

In coming from the deeper levels, within, being the deeper levels, within, in your self, your self needs to become reconstructed and re-formed, so that it has its function from what you are newly being in it. That part is a process and it’s developmental. Your shifting as awareness to come from what your being is isn’t a process and it’s not developmental. As you shift as awareness in being reoriented to what your being is instead of being what you’re accustomed to in your self, it changes and alters your entire sense of function in your self.

In coming from what your being is, that is like introducing a completely different sense in your self. It’s like adding a sixth and a seventh sense. Your self doesn’t have the form yet to function like that. That needs to develop. As you are being like what your own being is, being in that in your self, your self will become the same. Your self will change. You’ll have the same kind of function that you used to have in your self, but with a depth of function that doesn’t exclude what your being is like, whereas what you’re accustomed to in your self – the kind of self that you’re used to – isn’t inclusive of what your own being is like. So when you’re coming from something of your own being, then it seems to you that something of your self isn’t functioning well. That’s understandable.

As you’re being the new within your self, your self becomes new. You’ll be functional in this world and you’ll be functional in other realms, in realms that you couldn’t identify in your self before.

Q: So my self would acquire the qualities of the being? That’s what you mean?

John: Yes, while still being functional in the way that you’re used to functioning. You’ll have the function, but with a depth of being that is in the function, instead of being functional in your life without a depth of being.

Q: So this is a natural thing or I have to do something to acquire this?

John: Live.

Q: What I’m trying to do is explain to the self why it is good for him to change, but I don’t seem to succeed because if I have to do something, so my self is taking charge, and I still don’t understand how to let the being go in this.

John: Let your self answer to your being instead of your being answering to your self and having to give explanation to your self. In having to give explanation to your self, then the terms of living are the terms of your self and not the terms of your being.

When you try to explain new laws to your self, in giving an explanation to your self you are following the laws of your self. That has you falling back into what you’re used to of your self. You don’t need to give explanation to your self of the new laws that you’re living by – laws of being. When you’re giving no explanation to your self, because of what you’re clearly coming from, your self comes along. Whatever you’re coming from, your self is dependent on. If you’re coming from your own being, your self in its existence is dependent on your own being, and it becomes like your own being.

If you try to give explanation and understanding to your self of what your own being is and what you are newly coming from, the having to give explanation has you coming from your self again. Be what your own being is. Be that in your self and your self will change. Explain it to your self and you’ll have to leave out your own being in the explanation. That has you being the old again.

Either way there’s going to be difficulty. When you’re accustomed to what your self is, when you try to awaken to what your own being is, you’ll be having so much difficulty because you’re using your self to realize your own being. Then when you do realize your own being, you’ll have the difficulty of functioning in your self because you’re all different now, but your self isn’t all different. Your first difficulty is awakening, within. When you do, the next difficulty is being that in a self that isn’t like that yet.

As you awaken to what your own being is and you’re remaining in that, living coming from that, integrating that into your self is like having a child and moving with your child to a completely different culture. The child has to learn everything all over again in how to socialize. It goes through a culture shock, and in living in the new culture everything will be fine. The child will change. Later the child will be functional in both cultures. Your self is like that. Your self will change.

Q: What you said makes me sad, suddenly. Maybe the little child don’t want to change country or place.

John: Your child goes where you go, unless, of course, the child rules the house. If the child goes where you go because you’re clear and you’re taking care of the child, the child will be happy. If the child rules the house, the child won’t be happy. Eventually your self will be functional not only in this world, but also in other realms, realms unseen.

Q: I think what scares me the most is when I feel this state of being, you don’t know what’s going to happen next. You don’t know if you’re going to fall or you’re going to step on the solid ground. And with the self, I know I’m going to step on solid ground. I feel it’s like going to a place that is completely new and it’s fun, but it’s also scary.

John: It’s excitingly new. It is like introducing profound gifts into your self. Your self is used only to the senses that it already has. When it’s given additional senses, new gifts, life becomes profoundly complex. It’s having to integrate the new gifts. For your self, that is a little bit scary. Its basic capacity is that of change and integration, so it will be all fine. It works.

Q: You said that the self always wants gain and loss, and being don’t have it.

John: In your self you relate to gain and you relate to loss. In your being there is no concept or reality of gain or of loss, so you’ll be learning in your self how to be what has nothing to do with gain or loss, in the midst of all of your functions that do relate to gain and to loss. You’ll be developing a complex, multi-leveled, compound self – a self that is able to function with your entire innermost in it, instead of your self having only a tiny little bit of your innermost in it.

When it is just such a little bit of your innermost that is in your self, then you as awareness in all of that have this deep inner knowledge, this deep inner knowing that there is much, much more to what you are than what you experience in your self, which has you pining for the more, yearning for the more, looking for the more in everything, until you awaken to the more and you align with the more, and you become as awareness one with all of the more, within. And then to discover that your self is now too little, and your little self is afraid of so much reality that you’re being, it’s a new difficulty. It’s a good difficulty. Your self will change and form to the greater reality that you have awakened to, that you’re coming from and that you’re being. All of you will be fine. The difficulty, this new difficulty, is fine.

Q: Thank you. It’s like you’ve relaxed something that was afraid, so your words made him calm and more trusting inside.

John: The more that you have awakened to and that you’ve come into and that you’ve experienced is just the beginning. There’s much more for you to awaken to. What you’ll be coming into is living loving awakening; that you never stop awakening. Then it isn’t about your coming into an awakening, but about your being what awakening is; awakening after awakening after awakening, until you’re able to be what it is. And awakening doesn’t stop. Awakening is like your breathing. With each breath you take in the new of more reality, within; the new of greater reality, within, and with your breathing out you’re integrating what you have taken in. You live breathing more reality. Your self then doesn’t stop developing and evolving. There isn’t an end to it. There isn’t meant to be an end to it. This is what you’re born for.

With all of this comes new ability, ability to function in unseen ways, ability to function in your innermost and in your interior in a way that you haven’t been able to perceive from your self, before. As you live in this, this ability slowly comes into your self, so that you are able in your self, in this world, to function with these newly realized abilities. While they come from the unseen within, unseen realities within, as these abilities are brought into your self you’ll not only be able to function in them but you’ll have the ability to make what is unseen seen in this world, seen in your life and, in some way, seen to others.

It is, in manifesting this in your self, a profoundly integrative process unlike the awakening, unlike your entrance into your own being which has no process; it is simply awakened to, realized and responded to. What comes next is giving all of that, that you’re coming into, form in your self. You have awakened to and come into greater reality, within, and now your self is too small for that. Now, what you’re realizing, in your coming into what greater reality is, is that you need a greater self. That takes time. Your coming into greater reality in awakening to it, realizing it, and responding to it takes no time.

What is amazing to you is that all of this is actually happening to you. You’re not able to take a course to have this. You can’t barter for it and you can’t buy it. You awakened to it and you entered it. Now that much more reality enters your self and your self, with discomfort, is going to be going through a lot of stretching. That is what your self is for. Your self is made to stretch. It’s made to change.

Instead of being accustomed to a self that changes with so much difficulty and that basically doesn’t want to change, you are going to be having a self of change. It will always be a self of change. That’s what a greater self is. In your self, in the development of your self and the evolution of your self, there is no parking spot. A self, when it is freed by your coming into greater reality is a living vehicle of transformation.

You have awakened. You can’t go back anymore. For you there is only forward. Scary as it is, what you know to the core, within, is the truth of it, the goodness of it. Everything is all right.

When you are born blind and then you come into seeing much later, there is so much more reality to deal with, to be integrated and, of course, that’s scary. Seeing is good. Your coming from what your being is, coming from that and being that in your self with all of the newness that that introduces into your self, is good.
